HeavyM 2.13 update

Discover the new features of HeavyM 2.13

We are thrilled to announce the release of HeavyM 2.13. This new version is packed with exciting new features, significant improvements, and bug fixes to make your creative experience even smoother and more powerful. Here’s a detailed overview of everything you’ll find in this update.

What's New

Coordinates and Dimensions System

We have added a coordinates and dimensions system to shapes. Now, the X & Y coordinates and Width & Height of any Face or Player are accessible from its Properties. Coordinates are also available for Vertices, and these parameters can be assigned via Controls (Keyboard/MIDI/OSC/DMX), offering greater flexibility and precision in your creations.

Color Controls

All color pickers now support Controls, allowing you to assign color parameters just like any other parameter via Keyboard/MIDI/OSC/DMX. This feature enables more intuitive synchronization of color changes with other elements of your show.

Bézier Mode in Warping Modules

We’ve added a Bézier mode to both the Output Setup warping module and the Player warping module. This mode offers more precise and natural deformation possibilities, perfect for projects requiring smooth curves and transitions.

Enhanced Edge Blending

The Edge Blending module has been reworked to include the ability to set the width of each blending strip in pixels. Additionally, it’s now possible to add a soft edge to a single screen even if it has no overlap with other screens (Pro/Pro+). This greatly improves the quality of the projected image, especially for complex setups.

Soft Edge Module for Players

Each Player now has a Soft Edge module with width and smooth parameters for each edge, along with a global Gamma Correction setting. This allows for blending between Players, providing a new setup method, especially when using a device like the Datapath FX4.

Audio Export

Audio from videos playing in Players is now included in video exports (Pro+). No more separate audio processing – everything is integrated for your convenience.

Improvements

Smooth Soft Edge Blending

We have improved the calculation of the Soft Edge in the Output Setup when applying it on multiple screen edges. A two-dimensional blending of 2×2 screens can now be achieved smoothly, enhancing the visual consistency of your projections.

Undo/Redo in Output Setup

We’ve increased the number of possible undo ([CTRL/Cmd+Z]) steps in the Output Setup and added the ability to redo ([CTRL/Cmd+Y]). This improvement gives you more flexibility to experiment without the fear of making irreversible mistakes.

Clearer Output Setup

The visualization of screen edges and points in the Output Setup has been improved for better clarity, especially when zooming in. This makes configuring and adjusting your screens more intuitive and precise.

Performance Optimization

We have optimized the performance for polygon drawing in the Canvas, which improves the interface performance and can reduce lags when using Autopilot with many sequences. Similarly, the performance for hovering and highlighting shapes in the Canvas has been optimized.

User-Friendly Adjustments

New Map: A “New Map” option has been added to the Maps dropdown list. It is now possible to create new Maps directly from the sequence settings.

Zoom and Centering: Improved the default zoom and centering of the view in the Screens space of the Output Setup, especially when expanding the window.

Parameter Precision: Improved the precision of the step to 0.01 instead of 1.0 when using the arrows to adjust the value of the “Smooth” parameter (formerly “Blend Curve”) in the Output Setup blending module.

Screen Addition and Deletion: The screen addition system in the Output Setup has been reworked. Screens are now added one by one and can be deleted via a right-click menu or the [Delete/Backspace] shortcut.

Dotted Quad: Added a dotted quad in the Points warping type of the Output Setup to show the outline of the selected screen, representing its distortion in the Perspective warping type.

Don’t wait – download HeavyM 2.13 now and experience all these new features for yourself!

The HeavyM 2.13 update is a major leap forward for our creative community. With enhanced features, a smoother interface, and optimized performance, this version is designed to make your video mapping projects even more impressive.

  • Added Controls to all color pickers. Color parameters can now be assigned like any other parameter via Keyboard/MIDI/OSC/DMX.
  • Added a Bézier mode to the Output Setup warping module
  • Rework the Output Setup Edge Blending module, including the possibility to setup the width of each blending strip in pixels, plus the possibility to add soft edge to a single Screen even if it has no overlap with other Screens
  • Added a Bézier mode to the Player warping module
  • Added a Soft Edge module to the Properties of Players, with Width (px) and Smooth parameters on each edge, plus a global Gamma Correction setting for each Player. Players blending can now be achieved, which gives you a new setup method when using a Datapath FX4 for instance.
  • Audio from videos playing in Players is now included in video exports
  • Added a “Show geometry in output” view option to the Output Setup. This allows you to display the warping points of screens in the output rendering. (2.13.2)
  • Added a “Show cursor in output” view option to the Output Setup. Cursor appearance can be adjusted in Edit -> Preferences… -> Output. (2.13.2)
  • Added “Blackout” and “Solo” buttons to screens in the Output Setup. (2.13.2)

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue that caused Warping Points to be misplaced after using “Reset” in Perspective warping type
  • Fixed an issue where the interface of the Output Setup window could “disappear” momentarily
  • Fixed a bug that caused Text parameters to be crushed if the text input was too long
  • Fixed a bug that caused the order of shapes in the Layers list to be incorrect after moving a selection of shapes
  • Fixed playback of GIFs on Windows (2.13.1)
  • Fixed an issue with the “optimize rendering for videos” mode (Preferences -> Graphics -> Global) (2.13.1)
  • Fixed an issue with the use of hardware acceleration on videos (2.13.1)
