Full Interview with Paul Hines

Hi Paul! Can you tell us a bit about yourself ?
Hey everyone! I’m Paul Hines, 44 years old, based in Columbus, Georgia. I’m a huge fan of technology and absolutely passionate about projection mapping. Every year, we create large-scale Halloween and Christmas displays on our house and yard — it’s become a local tradition!

How did you first get into projection mapping ?
It all started with Adobe After Effects — great software, but not ideal for everything. Our house has a brick façade, and parts of the projection just didn’t show up the way we wanted. So, we removed projection mapping from the show… temporarily.

What changed your approach this year ?
This year, we’re adding something really special: a 10-foot-tall castle, inspired by Disney, as the centerpiece of our display. Around the same time, I discovered HeavyM — and everything changed.

Tell us about your experience with HeavyM.
I’ve been a HeavyM Ambassador for three months, and I proudly introduced our first Easter projection display using HeavyM. It blew me away. Compared to what I used before, HeavyM is on another level: built-in effects, the ability to import your own visuals — it’s incredibly versatile and fun to use.

Was it easy to learn ?
There was a learning curve, sure. It was different from what I was used to. But with the tutorials and the support, I kept pushing forward — and I’m so glad I did. The final result was amazing.

What would you say to someone curious about HeavyM ?
If you’re into projection mapping, I 100% recommend it. Whether you’re just starting or already deep into the hobby, HeavyM gives you the tools to go further.

Any future plans ?
Yes! My dream is to one day open a 360° immersive experience powered by HeavyM — with interactive elements and full creativity on display.

Final thoughts ?
I’m truly honored to be part of the HeavyM family. Thank you for this amazing software and for giving creators like me the power to bring dreams to life.
