MEMO-Ausstellung: Hip Hop und Videomapping im Museum
Video mapping to enhance museums
The exhibition offers visitors a retrospective in the form of an immersive journey. The goal is to probe the place of the memory of Hip Hop in our current societies. François Gautret, founder and president of RStyle, has created an emblematic work to end the exhibition. His idea is to challenge visitors using an impressive installation and a selection of videos from the Urban Film Festival archives.
Olga kits as an evident choice
A 3m high sculpture was made to serve as a screen for the projection of the videos. The use of the question mark questions the continuity of the cultural heritage of urban arts today. Thanks to 4 Olga kits, more than 120 triangles were assembled to create a patchwork of shapes and colors, in which Hip Hop comes alive and personifies itself.
It is interesting to note that the Olga kit, usually considered as a stage decoration structure, becomes the medium of a plastic and conceptual approach usually seen in contemporary art.
The Olga kit, composed of 30 equilateral triangles, allows you to easily create video mapping volumes. The kit is :
- Easy to assemble and re-assemble: average assembly time of 30 minutes.

Die HeavyM Software is used in combination with the kit to broadcast the video content in each triangle. The videos, of different sizes and formats, have been set up in playlists to be easily handled.

Projection mapping enables phygital experiences
Since the beginning of the 2010s, video mapping has been evolving the concepts of street art and is gradually establishing itself as a new mode of expression in the everyday environment. The question of the boundaries between the physical and digital world is so present that it has given birth to a new word: phygital.
Video mapping applied to urban art plays with these boundaries and can lead to the creation of totally immersive experiences. Like a message amplifier, video mapping will continue to renew the urban landscape. It conveys new sensations, new emotions and marks the minds more durably than the walls of an animated city.
